Welcome to the IEEE AgeTech Roadmap.
For the first time in human history, older people are becoming the norm rather than the exception. The technologies we build must rise to meet that reality; and that requires a fundamentally different kind of thinking.
This roadmap is that thinking made concrete. A forward-looking, systems-level publication, it gives the global aging technology community — researchers, technologists, innovators, policymakers, and industry — a clear, actionable vision for where we need to go and what it will take to get there.
It is guided by the Age Responsive approach, which I developed and brought to IEEE AgeTech: The conviction that technology innovation must work across the full human lifespan; not for a single demographic, but for all of us.

About the Roadmap
The world is aging faster than the technologies built to serve it. The IEEE AgeTech Roadmap exists to change that.
It is a living, systems-level publication that maps not just where the technology is, but where it needs to go. It surfaces innovation opportunities, identifies critical gaps, and gives the global community a shared foundation for action. Looking 5 to 10 years forward, it spans four technical focus areas — Healthcare Wearables, Intelligent Home Solutions, Caregiving Automation, and Wearable Robotics — across the full breadth of the aging and care ecosystem while integrating the human dimensions of ethics, equity, and governance.
Developed under the editorial leadership of the Editor-in-Chief in accordance with IEEE Technology Roadmaps Committee (IRC) guidelines, the roadmap brings together the rigor of IEEE’s global standards infrastructure with the ambition the moment demands.
