IEEE AgeTech and IEEE Brain Mini-Symposium during the IEEE Brain Discovery and Neurotechnology Workshop:
The Aging Brain: Technologies Transforming Longevity and Care
11 November 2026 • Washington, D.C., USA
4:00 – 6:00 pm ET
Between 2015 and 2050, the proportion of people aged 60 and older is projected to nearly double—from 12% to 22% of the world’s population. As longevity increases, the challenge is no longer simply adding years to life—it’s adding independence, vitality, and purpose to those years. Non-invasive or minimally invasive brain monitoring techniques and neurotechnologies offer a revolutionary paradigm for preserving autonomy, enhancing cognitive health, and enabling “aging in place.”
This 2-hour symposium will look into the emerging trend of non-invasive neurotechnologies for aging and discuss critical bottlenecks and potential solutions such as technical standards and user-centric design for older adults, data privacy, and other ethical concerns. Attendees will gain a holistic understanding of how computational neuroscience and interdisciplinary neurotech innovations are shaping the future of aging.
